Book a retainer to have our team work on as many projects as possible every month.

“I only, only have good things to say about working with Shterna.

We were looking to raise a few million and knew we needed killer writing. What she delivered was phenomenal – a strong theme, great writing. She’s top-notch.”

– Avi Jurkanski, Tiferes Devorah L’Kallah

Unlimited? How does that work?

We’ll work on as much as you want every month (four weeks) – one project at a time.

  1. Together, we create a pipeline of projects – some of your ideas, some of ours

  2. We’ll work through the pipeline, focusing fully on each project

  3. Every single project is completed with a 100% commitment to quality and our other values

  4. As soon as a project is done, we’ll start on the next one

The turnaround time for each project depends on the complexity of the project and the package you choose (packages are differentiated by turnaround time).

What kind of projects can we work on together?

That’s what nonprofits love about this project: we’ll work on whatever project is most integral to your fundraising goals – and we’ll work out what those are together.

Why are your packages named for the sun, moon, and stars?

My name is “Shterna,” which means “star” in Yiddish, so I have a thing for stars. Plus, this team gets to work every day helping nonprofits that make the world a better, brighter place, so celestial names feel 100% perfect.

What about times with fewer work days, like Tishrei?

Two options, based on whichever would work better for you.

  1. We can pro-rate the retainer to account for the off-time.

  2. Alternatively, in advance of those months, we’ll speed up our turnaround time short-term so you still get the same value, with a similar number of projects completed.

How do you know what our organization needs?

No two nonprofits are the same, so every project needs to be uniquely suited to your specific values, mission, and goals.

That’s why every retainer starts with a robust discovery process.

The discovery process involves the following:

  • Discovery questionnaire (for your team) and follow-up discovery session

  • Data mining of any provided materials such as past feedback and services

  • Donor survey

  • Beneficiary survey

  • Compilation of responses of surveys turned into smooth testimonials, when relevant

  • Competitive analysis of nonprofits sharing a similar donor pool

At the end of the discovery, we create a strategy based on everything we’ve learned, and you’ll get the following:

  1. Messaging strategy guide – includes breakdown of donor drivers, hesitations, key services, and messaging pillars)

  2. Feedback database – a customized system to track all your social proof

  3. Marketing strategy – new ideas to try, areas for optimization, and a plan for what to prioritize moving forward

We then get started on the best part: actually putting all these ideas into motion.

“It’s obvious that Shterna’s a good copywriter and knows the nonprofit audience – that’s why we brought her on.

On top of that, though, she’s extremely professional. Everything from communication to project management and customer service is always smooth. When she’s working on something, you know it’s going to be done well and on time. We came to Shterna because we know that this is an ever-changing world and we need to stay on top of our donor communications. We’ve kept coming back because she delivers time and again.”

– Rabbi Zalman Duchman, Colel Chabad

FAQs

What is included in every project?

Good question. It’s not just the copy. For any email-related projects, we’ll take care of segmentation, triggers, opt-outs, basic design, and A/B testing. We also meticulously track the data of every single digital project so we learn what works best for you organization and can optimize in real time.

For any print or non-digital campaigns, we don’t do design in-house. Instead, we collaborate with the designer of your choice.

We don’t have a heavy project pipeline right now. What if we only want to book your team for one project?

If that’s the case, check out our Cornerstone Projects packages. It’s perfect for one-off projects like a pitch deck, website, or donor journey. You’ll be working with the same team, utilizing the same strategy and experience, without the long-term commitment.

“When you work with someone highly recommended, you have high expectations. Shterna did not disappoint. I like her style. I like the way she took the time to understand exactly what was going on and then took the project on as her own. She captured the subtle nuance of what we needed to do and came up with the overall strategy and creative ideas to make sure we covered all our bases. There was a thought-out plan and process to help us have the maximum effect. She was always on top of things before, during, and after the project. Shterna was originally referred to us a few times by someone who had glowing things to say about her quality of work. Now that we’ve worked with her, we understand why they were so happy.”

Rabbi Dovid Leib Shur, Yaldei
